Nuance in datavisualisation

MASTERPROJECT

Most (visual) information that comes our way every day is a simplified representation of reality. In order to facilitate communication, the information is reduced to an intended essence. Making incorrect conclusions may be a consequence of reducing information. This project is a research into preservation of nuance in representing data.

This thesis consists out of 12 proposals to communicate in a nuanced way, each with the same idea but with different design principles. The circle establishes one truth and the content is the data that led to that score. From a distance, the viewer can conclude which color is most present, and will have a nuanced representation of reality.
