About

I'm Laura Beck, a visual artist based in Antwerp, working between Antwerp and Brussels. My visual language is characterized by layered compositions, strong color contrasts, and a sensitivity to nuance.

The same visual approach recurs in both my commissioned graphic work and my paintings: a striving for clarity and essence. I abstract observations and narratives into visuals that can be read in layers. In both practices, I try to make the intangible tangible: an attempt to order the complexity of the world through visuals. My work starts from social and existential themes: about being, beauty, and how we relate to our environment. It tends to be subtle and layered, inviting slow perception: a moment of stillness in a world in constant motion. My images subtly blend with their surroundings: visible, but never obtrusive. They do not want to dominate, but to touch. They leave room for interpretation, for personal meaning.

I’m currently studying painting in the part-time program at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp (KASKA DKO). Before that, I studied at RHoK in Brussels, completed a visual arts program at Imelda Brussels, earned a Master’s degree in Graphic Design (Data Visualization) at LUCA Brussels, and trained as an art teacher at LUCA Ghent. In August 2024, I took part in a group exhibition at Expo18 in Ostend. My work is part of several private collections.
